Having plants in your office or home can help purify the air. This can have many beneficial health effects. There have been many studies into the plants that best suit this purpose and here are a few for you to consider purchasing.
Kentia Palm (Howea Fosterania) – This is a very gracious palm. This palm is great indoors and it releases a vast amount of moisture into the air, which helps to remove the chemical toxins in the air. The leaves on this plant can grow to approximately 45cm across with proper care and light, which is always worth remembering when thinking of the space you have within your office.
Philodendron – This plant is very hardy and can grow in shady positions. In studies carried out by NASA this plant was found to be an effective remover of formaldehyde molecules in conjunction with other toxins. A formaldehyde molecule is a naturally occurring compound and is also known as methanal.
Miniature Date Palm (Phoenix Roebelinii) – If you are after a plant that looks amazing and grows slowly with a maximum height of 5-61/2 feet, then this is ideal. This plant does need a bit of space to allow it to spread and it best displayed when standing alone. Treated properly the miniature date palm has a life span that can survive for decades. This palm does like semi-sunny conditions. It is very effective at removing air pollutants especially xylene. Xylene is a volatile liquid hydrocarbon. It is obtained by distilling wood, coal tar or petroleum.
Decorate your office and give yourself and other staff the benefit a greener working environment.
